SEMANA VEGETARIANA - Hamburguesas de garbanzos

VEGETARIAN WEEK - Chickpea Burgers

From October 2nd to 8th, International Vegetarian Week is celebrated. The main objective of this week is to spread the principles of vegetarianism and promote a change in the diet of human beings in general, based on respect for animals. Environmental reasons have also been added as an argument for giving up meat or, at least, reducing its consumption. At Alfar Tierra Cocida, we join in this movement, and we want to offer you vegetarian recipes whether you usually follow a vegetarian diet or are an omnivore looking to reduce your meat consumption.

Today we bring you a recipe in which you can also use your grater plate:

Ingredients:

2 cans of chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 red onion

2 cloves of garlic

1 carrot

1 cup of breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon sweet paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, mash the chickpeas.

2. On a grater, grate the red onion, garlic, and carrot, and add them to the bowl.

3. Mix everything very well with the spices, egg, and breadcrumbs. Shape the mixture into patties with your hands.

4. In a hot skillet with oil, cook your patties until golden brown on both sides.

Tips:

You can add grated cheese to the mixture for a different touch!

If you want them gluten-free, you can always use almond flour or other flours to replace the bread. You might need more flour to form the patties properly, so experiment! And finally... if you decide to eat the patties the classic way with a good bun, try adding sweet and sour pickles; they definitely add a delicious touch. we love them!

The amount of ingredients indicated in the chickpea burger recipe should be enough to make approximately 4 to 6 burgers, depending on the size you want.
